White daffodil
Blowing in the breeze
Why do you look
As if youre at ease?
You stand there proudly
Looking so tall
Yet can you not see
Youre the whitest of them all?
Your brothers and sisters
Are shades of yellow cream
Yet you look as though
You dont know what this means
Bobbing your head, gently to and fro
Youre not how daffodils are meant to look you know
Yellows are the norm
Lighter shades too
Why are you white?
What happened to YOU?
Do you mind being different?
Is it really very bad?
When you see the other colours
Does it make you feel sad
That youre the only one
With a pearly white head?
Dont you wish that you were
Another colour instead?
I sat and I watched them
Swaying in the breeze
Elegance, dancing beneath the trees
Their heads bowed together
In one perfect flow
The yellows, the pales and the white
In an uneven row
They all became one
As they merged in the scene
And I think now I know
What my daffodils answer might have been
